Ed Clarke - Wedding Magician Cornwall

More couples are looking for something different for their wedding reception. A Close-up/Table Magician can make a huge difference. Ed Clarke, one of the most popular magicians in the South-West, can entertain your guests whilst you are having the photos taken, after the ceremony, or moving from table to table between courses at the wedding breakfast.

When to have a magician at your wedding

When Ed is hired for a wedding performance the slot is usually about 2 hours and takes on one of the following forms:

Immediately following the ceremony whilst photos are being taken and maybe for the first part of the breakfast. Perfect for summer weddings when the guests are outside for drinks and canapés!

At the tables between the courses of the wedding breakfast, finishing when the speeches start. This is one of the most popular options.

After the speeches in the transition period between the day and evening reception. This is the point of the day where the reception is in danger of lagging, so some magic can really help things along. During the evening reception.

Ed Clarke has performed at Weddings all over Cornwall. Here are some of the most popular venue choices that Ed performs magic for weddings on a regular basis:

Polhawn fort - nr Plymouth
Tregena Castle - St Ives
Pendenis Castle - Falmouth
The Royal Duchy - Falmouth

Imerys Minerals Ltd - Austells Restaurant

A celebration for the staff of Imerys Minerals Ltd, who have been a part of the company for 25 years. They were treated to a meal at one of the nicest restaurants in St Austell called Austell’s Restaurant. They also received various gifts and cash bonuses. It was a pleasure to entertain at their party and I enjoyed meeting so many great people. Also I highly recommend the food there, the smoked chicken and avocado salad was incredible.

The Wateringhole - Perranporth

I had such a good night at The Wateringhole in Perranporth where I was entertainment for the Perranporth Rugby team. What a great bunch of guys who have played great and are still undefeated up to date this season. It was a great setting right on the beach and Bob the owner of the Wateringhole followed me round like a child wanting to see more magic, very amusing... I did get asked to perform at a wedding there next week so you might have a chance to see some more tricks.

The Rosevine - Portscatho nr St Mawes

I was at 2 weddings today and the weather was outstanding, not a cloud in the sky. First stop was The Rosevine in portscatho near St Mawes. I had the pleasure of meeting a young lad called Tyler who was 13 years old and very interested in magic. We had a chat and I taught him a few tricks and he showed me some that he had learnt, very impressive for his age. I did some balloon modelling and some visual magic for the kids and then went to the main table and had a good time entertaining the adults; I managed to remove a ladies watch without her noticing and then received a great response when the audience thought that I had taken another ladies bra.

Then I went to the second wedding of the day at The Wateringhole in Perranporth, I was asked short notice to perform at this event as I was at the venue last week, luckily the times didn't clash. It was still amazing weather and the speeches were very funny. Bob was following me around again and everyone who saw me the week before kept asking me to perform the floating 20 pence trick. One woman nearly fainted when I made her wedding ring levitate and float around us all. I feel bad as the staff are always working hard and never get to see the effects so I said to Bob (the owner) that I will pop in on a quiet day and do a private show for the staff.

Glendorgal Hotel nr Newquay

Well the season is here and wedding bookings seem to be flooding in. To start the month off is the Wedding of Scott and Leanne Fielder at the Glendorgal Hotel, just outside Newquay. The setting was amazing with great views of Porth Beach and the headland and not a cloud in the sky, a truly magical day to get married.

I had a great show yesterday at the St Michaels Hotel in Falmouth, Cornwall. It was the Wedding of Martin and kayleigh, (Great guys). I was entertaining the guests whilst the photos were been taken. With the amazing weather we had yesterday it was a pleasure performing wedding magic outside in the gardens of St Michael’s hotel. We had a group of mixed ages so it was fun performing for the adults and fitting a bit of balloon modelling in for the children. I recognised a few faces from my old local pub: The Stone Masons in longdowns.

Great event and once again, Congratulations to Martin and Kayleigh

Cafe Azure - The Valley CornwallJust finished working at The Valley, Another great evening of table magic. It was nice to be back to see some old faces - guests as well as staff. Craig (who used to be the restaurant manager at the coast guard hotel in Mousehole - Penzance) was following me around to see the new tricks I have been creating. He used to book me regularly at the Coastguard hotel and when he moved job's to work at The Valley I think he was shocked to find out that I have been the resident magician there for the last 4 years. I will be performing there all through the summer on Tuesdays and I have just taken another booking for the 1st of June during half term. If you’re down this way pop in and say hello...

I may also be working throughout the Christmas period at the Valley as well

Hail King Arthur!!!
I had a great night performing at one of the most mystical and magical places in Cornwall; The Camelot Castle - Tintagel

It was the Black tie ball for the good people of Stags Estate agents, quite an interesting night as I found out that David Robinson the Director of the company is a bit of a conjurer himself. It was a fun evening as it gave me a chance to try out some of my new parlour material as well as mix and mingling with close up magic.

A big thank you to John Mappin and all the staff of Camelot castle for the recommendation.

Prusher cove

I had a great time performing my new stand up magic routine at the beautiful Prusher Cove nr Penzance. Everyone was great and we had a lot of audience participation.

I just wanted to thank you for the great entertainment that you provided for our daughters wedding on the 30th June in Truro.  The unanimous verdict was that you were absolutely brilliant.  This appears to be confirmed by the photographer who has almost as many snaps of you entertaining the guests at the reception as of the bride and groom.  I sincerely hope to see your work again as so far, I haven’t got a clue how you do it.
